How we review hosting providers
Every review on TopSiteHosters is based on hands-on testing and real performance data. We do not rely on marketing materials, press releases, or information provided by the hosting companies themselves. We sign up for real plans where possible, deploy test websites, and measure what actually happens.
We evaluate every provider across five key areas: performance, uptime, pricing, support, and features. Each of these carries weight in our overall rating, and no single category can override the others. A host with blazing speed but terrible support will not rank as highly as one that delivers consistently across the board.
Performance
We measure how fast each provider serves pages under real-world conditions. This includes page load speed, time to first byte (TTFB), and server response times from European test locations. We also look at the underlying hardware, whether the provider uses NVMe SSD storage, current-generation processors, and how much RAM is allocated per plan. Server-side caching and CDN availability factor in as well, since these directly affect how quickly visitors experience your site.
Uptime
A website that goes down regularly is a website that loses visitors, trust, and revenue. We track uptime over extended periods to see how reliably each provider keeps sites online. Beyond the raw numbers, we look at the provider's SLA (service level agreement), their track record during major incidents, and whether they have redundant infrastructure in place to handle hardware failures or traffic surges without taking your site offline.
Pricing
Hosting pricing is more complicated than it looks. Nearly every provider advertises a discounted introductory rate that jumps significantly on renewal. We compare the features included at each plan tier: free SSL certificates, automatic backups, control panel options, staging environments, email hosting, security tools like firewalls and malware scanning, and how easy it is to scale up when your site grows. We pay particular attention to what is included by default versus what costs extra, since many providers advertise features that turn out to be paid add-ons.

How we keep reviews current
The hosting industry changes constantly. Providers update their infrastructure, adjust pricing, launch new features, and sometimes degrade in quality over time. A review that was accurate six months ago may not reflect the current reality.
We revisit and update each review regularly to account for these changes. When a provider makes a significant change — a price increase, a new data centre, a major platform update we re-evaluate and update the relevant review as soon as possible. Our reviews reflect what is happening now, not what happened when we first published.
